Thursday September 9: Northport Revisited

We spent yesterday at Traverse City again as it was cool, overcast and not a particularly great day to travel. Interestingly enough we found there is a BUS that goes to the mall we rode to yesterday that about killed me (I think Steve secretly has a life insurance policy out on me!). So we rode back to the mall (actually Home Depot) to buy a new cordless drill to replace the one that has pretty much died so that was good. Part of the day was spent enjoying the boater's lounge. It seems like we are the only ones here as I have yet to run into anyone using these great facilities. I particularly liked the weather predictor on the wall! (The knot refers to the one hanging at the bottom of the sign.)
Steve had enough ambition to dig out one of the plastic pieces for the flybridge (they were the last thing I did before we left last July and had never put snaps on them!). I thought it was a waste until this morning when the wind was again right at us and the temperatures in the low 60's. It was quite cool even out of the wind but would have been downright miserable without the plastic blocking it. Go Steve!!
There was also the 'chase the cup' game Steve was playing. He had wanted to get it out of the water for most of the day and finally succeeded using the boat hook. Also rescused was some boat's flag - flagpole and all! Hopefully the person will find it in the lounge area. (The cup is hard to see but it's on the end of the boat hook.)
Tomorrow: finally winds that are predicted to be light and from the NE. If there is no change, we'll go 70 miles down the lake to Frankfort and may catch up with Surona and Selahi (they have been sitting in Leland since leaving here this past Monday.
