I started on the shade screen for the windows - starting with the windshield first since that is where most of the sun comes in as we sit in this dock that faces mostly west. The project went pretty well. Today was making the cover for over the hatch. This lets us keep the hatch open even if it is raining - a vast improvement to having to close the boat up totally when it rains. We thought it would be cool up here (and it is at night - in the 60's) but today was the worst with a high of 92 degrees.
With both the windshield cover and the hatch cover, we should be pretty good to go. Shade screens for the side and rear windows may have to wait - depends on how long we are here. With the holiday weekend, we may stay put until Sunday.
Steve tackled the job of adding grab handles on both sides of the boat. Even with a beam of 10 feet, this boat is still wobbly so the grab handles make it much easier to get on and off of the boat. Definitely a safety issue - with me in particular!!
Steve's other job today was to put his new grill together. Good thing I was there to help :-) Someone has to read the instructions, right? It's a great grill for on top of a picnic table - tonight was salmon on the grill and a salad. Perfect ...
Tomorrow's projects are installing the inverter (so we can have power if not plugged in) and rechecking the battery systems. We turned in our rental car today but will pick up another one on Friday (I love Enterprise's $9.99 a day weekend rates!) with a plan to head out to see a movie (or maybe two given it is supposed to be HOT again). More sewing (where is Cheryl and her sewing machine when I need her???) The major projects are completed but as always there is something else to do! We may even take the boat away from the dock for a bit of a cruise - who knows!
I would have loved to be there, sewing machine in hand. I think I owe yousome helper time.
