When we arrived yesterday the marina dog was in the same position as we left her - relaxed on the dock across from us! We pulled and R&R the heat exchanger before we left so it was nice that it was a job done when we arrived back. The boat was pulled and new bottom paint added so we're now good to go. You can see we are in a shallow area with clear water as there is lot of seaweed. The white on the bottom of the keel is where I kind of sanded the paint off (panhandle of Florida perhaps??)
After a 5 hour or so drive we arrived in Cleveland and spent the next few days at Julie and Jim's place. What a really nice time we had! Thanks Julie and Jim!! There was some cooking of fun things (pizza - thanks, Wendy for the recipe), work on the flybridge cover, doctor appts., and visits with friends. Off then to the farm and breakfast with Mom (she is doing well - just doesn't remember much) then on to Cincinnati for my nephew's wedding (there will be pics on Picasaweb if you want to check them out: https://picasaweb.google.com/lfrankooh/JoshSWeddingFrankoGathering# ). For boat people, we can actually clean up when needed :-)
A get-together of the Franko siblings and spouses at Andy and Helen's home was managed on the way home from Cincy. Kristy, Will (and family), Valerie, Richard (and family) and his brother Mark were also there. It was nice to be able to see everyone again. On the road early Tuesday morning with a stop at Angola on the NY turnpike to make the trip complete! We unloaded the car with the boat in the hoist so it made it easy to transfer everything.
Today? New project: rebuild the flybridge hydraulic steering box. It had a slight leak which we found upon returning but rather than wait until the steering failed, we thought it would be wise to be proactive and just rebuild the box. Rebuild kit will be in tomorrow so we won't leave until Friday. Sometimes people ask us if we get tired of fixing things on the boat (after all, it is a 1978!) and we just tell them no. One definition of cruising is fixing your boat in exotic places!
