January 9: Cortez, FL

It was a nice but again windy day to travel from Treasure Island to Cortez. Only 28 miles. Crossing Tampa Bay was easier than expected as the wind was from the East so there were no large waves surging in from the Gulf. Tampa Bay bridge is spectacular from the water - one of the prettiest/largest bridges we have seen in a while. The intent was to anchor out tonight on the Manatee River but the winds were not forecast to be from a very good direction and to be 10 mph or more most of the night so we opted for a dock at the Seafood Shack Marina instead. What a great find! Clam chowder to go for lunch (late - about 2:30). Steve then headed out to scout out the area on his bike while I set the satellite system up so I could record the football playoff games in case they were worth watching (as the ones yesterday definitely were!). Terri (Steve's sister) and husband Scott joined us for a glass of wine on the flybridge as the sun was setting - and a seafood dinner followed. It was really good - I think we may be staying here for the next few nights as we spend some time with Terri and Scott and some of their friends. It was really a nice night!!
