Today is my Mom's 91st birthday. Even though we aren't with her today she has been in our thoughts as she always is.
What a wonderful person and such a great role model for me (even though I may not have really appreciated this at the time!!).
We finally left South Benjamin Island on Monday - what a wonderful stay it was! The winds had died down and even as we were leaving, boats were heading in to anchor.
It's time to turn around and head south to home.
Little Current was our destination - about 21 miles away.
Along the way we spotted the small tall ship which serves as a training ship for young people interested in learning how to sail these old style ships.
All sails were out and filled as we passed them in the main channel as we headed east toward Little Current.
Our arrival at Little Current was well timed as the rains and thunderstorms blew through for two days. The only project was to fix Steve's kayak.
An inside seam had torn loose and since it was out of warranty, I figured I didn't have anything to loose. All sewn up and ready to go - we'll see how long it lasts - sure glad we brought the sewing machine with us!
Today the rain persisted and even though the weather predictions were for continued wind from the south with possible rain, it looked like we were good to go after a last check at the radar.
The trip to Killarney - about 20 miles - was better than expected with only short distances between at least some protection from the south winds. Largest waves were 2 - 3 feet but no problem.
It's been sunny and windy the rest of today. Killarney itself is just a relatively narrow passageway between two islands and well protected for the south winds that are still blowing quite hard.
Tomorrow we continue along the north shore of Georgian Bay. Peter and Cheryl on Deja Vu are at anchor and awaiting our arrival. We are looking forward to traveling with them again - let the fun begin!!
