The place was mobbed - I think everyone in St. Louis with kids was there as we had to park way back in the grass lot. The first thing we saw was the pumpkin shooter - and it really did work! It shot 3 small pumpkins about 100 yards or so. You couldn't see them land which was kind of sad. I wanted to see the splat. Of course Steve and I had to have our picture as the farm couple - yep that would be us alright!
Funnel cakes, candied popcorn, horseback rides (and camel rides!), John Deere pedal trike rides and a spinning apple. I thought I was at the Loudonville Fair!
One of the highlights was Will, J.P. and Kaitlyn being chosen as the "owner" of the United Kingdom pig in the Olympigs Race! Their pig didn't win but it was still fun to watch. Of course we did come to pick apples so after a wagon ride to the orchard it was time for the work. Kristi and J.P. had the best idea in trying to reach the high up apples (no tree climbing was allowed) but I have to say I found some great ones on the ground - way easier :-)
The day continued with trip to a bike shop (Steve needed a new set of rear wheel gears), Harbor Freight (to replace the inverter we fried the other day) and a grocery store near Kristi and Will's home and then a great dinner at their house. Entertainment after dinner was provided by J.P.. a quick game of Life with J.P. and Kaitlyn rounded out the evening. Will then kindly drove us back to the boat (about 30 minutes away) where we quickly called it a night. Yea! The Browns won and Becky and I were going to watch it "together" as we had both taped the game. Bummer - I didn't get it :-( Maybe the key to them winning is for me to NOT watch!
The riverbanks we passed today are still gorgeous in some areas (and industrial in others). Elegante was tied at Hoppies with us last night and passed us this morning on the river - she is all wood and beautiful (also for sale if anyone is interested!). We also passed the guy that stayed at Hoppies that is KAYAKING down the Mississippi - and I thought we were crazy! Work day as it was a short travel day (when you average 10.9 mph it doesn't take long to go 40 miles) so Steve is intently working to put snaps on the remaining plastic for the flybridge. I have to admit it will really be nice on the rainy days. Beats getting wet :-)
Tomorrow: 70 miles to the next place to stop (an anchorage)
