Tuesday September 4: A Rainy Day in Peterborough

Yesterday's 10 mile, 7 lock trip to Peterborough was quite pleasant. The sun was out, the wind was mild and the running of the locks was very well timed. Made the trip in what was probably a record time of about 3 hours.

No matter how many times we travel on the lift locks, they still amaze me. The technology involved is so simple - who would have thought to do this?! Click here to see the lift lock in action. Or for an explanation of how it works, click here.

It wasn't too long before DeJa Vu was spotted on Little Lake just off of the marina. We haven't seen Peter and Cheryl since we left them in South Carolina - it was great to see them again! After Peter did a masterful job backing into the dock space, we spent the evening catching up.

Cheryl's Mom came in today to travel the remainder of the way back to Midland with them. This is a great part of the Trent - I'm sure she'll enjoy the trip :-)

The plan was to leave later today after Lois was on board but the weatherman had other plans! It started raining this morning and just hasn't really let up much.  Oh well - nice place to be stuck for a day and the sun is due back tomorrow.

Destination? Not sure - but I'm sure we'll have a good time getting there
