The rest of the drive from CA was pleasant enough - we managed to stay ahead of the tornadoes running though the southern states. Stopped at Biloxi, MS and true to our pattern didn't do well at the slot machines but had fun for an hour or two! Came out with negative $14. Not too bad though :-) We arrived back to the boat on Tuesday afternoon - wow were we happy to be home after being away since Nov. 30!!
Someone has neglected to take many pictures so the only two we have are of Steve's new chair (replaces the yellow one that my parents bought in 1979 for the patio at the farm). We saw this kind of chair in Encinitas at Big Lots but of course didn't want to haul it all over the country (plus there was no room to do that!) and luckily found one here in Jacksonville. It swivels, reclines and glides - does it all! Steve fell asleep in it last night so it must be pretty comfy. And it fits in the allotted space available - how great is that?
The boat is pretty much a mess but things are beginning to find their home (new blender, crock pot and chair), laundry is done (free washer and dryer here at the marina), freezer and refrigerator both defrosted, water tanks clorinated, two trips to the Division of Motor Vehicles to get the boat and dinghy registered in Florida (our Ohio registration expires at the end of March) and all systems on the boat checked.
Fortunately Steve felt a need to check all systems to make sure we are good to go on Saturday. Good thing since the generator wouldn't turn over. We'd had an occasional issue with it prior to our leaving in November ..... Clean terminal and battery connections - no success. Check and replace battery - still no success. Remove starter - ahhh -- the problem. It needs a new starter solenoid. Tomorrow's goal: find the part we need and replace it.
In the meantime, it is supposed to be warming up so a Saturday leave day looks good. I almost slipped on the ice on the dock - a sure sign that we are not far enough south yet :-)
