We almost already feel like we live here. Our view from the boat is great and we have already talked to the marina about spending next February here if we can get the same spot. The iguana we spotted when kayaking was fun - just sitting in the sun minding his/her own business! We were able to meet with the crew of Bama Belle (Brandy and Charlie) and Stella Maris (Shaun and Hazel) at the Stuffed Pig for breakfast last week - it was a nice reunion as we had not seen them since our 22 hour crossing of the Gulf of Mexico.
Steve agreed to have his picture taken with the 'stuffed pigs' - this is where we had breakfast with Christi also. Nice fun place - good food at a decent price.
Yesterday we put the engine on the dingy and went the 5 miles around Marathon to Boot Harbor. The harbor is crazy busy with anchored boats and boats on mooring balls. Steve always drives the dinghy for some reason (maybe because I couldn't pull the cord hard enough to start the engine??).
Joe and Joe Kubit arrived yesterday in their sailboat High Spirits! We were very excited to see them as they were our former dock neighbors at East 55th St Marina in Cleveland. They left last July and headed clockwise (east) down the eastern coastline - we left in June and headed counterclockwise (west) down the river system and here we both are in Marathon, Florida. How fun it is to see them again!!
It was a great work day today. Steve went to High Spirts (Kubit's boat) to look at their electrical issues, Joy worked on the holding tank leak and I stayed behind to redo some of the walkaround deck that had some cracking issues.
Joy and Steve went out in the kayaks while Joe went to the pool and I played Legend of Zelda - thanks to Becky I was able to continue playing :-)
