As it always is when we return from a trip, it seems like we never left. The marina folks here were really great and did a nice job on the new bottom paint and prop paint. They also washed the outside of the boat so it looks really nice!
We flew from San Diego into Biloxi (about an hour or so west of Mobile) and spent the night. I didn't know there were casino's in Biloxi so of course we had to go to one. They are all right on the Gulf and the damage from Katrina is still very evident. Many of the buildings are just sitting around as concrete pads - not being rebuilt.
Anyway, yesterday and today was spent getting ready to head out again. A break at Checkers for lunch (notice it's not snowing but it's not all that warm either!) as we drove around for the correct battery replacement before we head out.
The new flannel sheets are going to be GREAT considering it's supposed to be in the high 20's in a few days. We really need to get farther south. Even though today is the first day of winter, it was a shirt sleeve day today.
Steve "decorated" the boat with our measly 4 strings of mini lights. Guess we should have gotten more of them! Cactus guy dances to Felice Navidad - he always sat in the kitchen at the farm and it seemed we were the only ones that actually liked him (maybe it's because we bought him?) so he now dances on the boat.
We'll head out tomorrow - sunny but mid 50's for our first day of travel in a month. Will seem strange .....
For pictures of what we did in California - go to my picasaweb album at: http://picasaweb.google.com/lfrankooh/CaliforniaProjectsDec2010# I have added a few pictures at the end from the LA part of the trip.
Welcome back guys! I missed reading your blog the last month. I'm headed to snowy Iowa to visit Teresa's family tomorrow through Tuesday. We'll be right on the Mississippi if you want to quickly head back north? :) There's even a river casino there!
ReplyDeleteGlad to be able to provide entertainment - thanks for the encouragement :-)
ReplyDeleteHah! It's plenty cold enough here without going back to the Mississippi :-) Enjoy your Christmas - we should be at your parent's place in a couple of weeks or so. Hopefully it will warm up down that direction. And I'm sure that it is cold in the northeast!!
