Sunday July 21: Still at McGregor's

It was a wonderful night with an almost full moon. No wind – guess the two anchors weren't really needed last night but that's ok – we've learned better to be safe than drag a single anchor in a storm :-)

Steve was up early and not only caught the sunrise but also caught a nice bass (definitely larger than the one he threw back yesterday) for dinner tonight. He catches – I clean. What a team!

The weather goes downhill again late in the day tomorrow so we decided to just stay put today since it was so nice and then move to a harbor for the less than ideal weather.

Five days is now our new record for consecutive nights at anchor! And we haven't killed each other yet – must be a miracle :-)

Nice kayak ride for some exercise and then the work began.

Weirdly thee are all kinds of dead trees around the shorelines (mostly small trees).

We suspect that this might have been one of the places where the directors for Lord of the Rings got the idea for the white tree at Ministeries (sp??) as that is exactly what these trees looked like.

Maybe these are trees whose roots just couldn't get a good enough hold on the rocks. It's amazing to me that there are ANY trees able to actually grow around here!

Regardless, it really was time for a bit of work ....

Steve scrubbed the runner and the small throw rug while I swept the inside carpeting. A minor rerouting of some water lines was my self appointed job. This gives us a nice place to keep the 2 power cords and the 2 water hoses.

Before they were stored under the aft deck hatch which is a pain to pick up (I can't even get it up!) because of it's size so this will be much better (Becky – you will appreciate this :-))

Of course Steve had to continue fishing when it started getting dusk – and nicely caught a small muskie. And then a second one - even smaller :-)
Muskie can grow to 6 feet and 70 lbs so these are really babies :)

Tomorrow we'll be up and out early for the trip to Little Current – about 30 miles or so. Rain and thunderstorms are due in tomorrow night  along with high winds – sounds like a good night to be tied to a dock :-)
