So Saturday night is usually like every other night around here. In fact we're usually lucky if we even realize it IS a Saturday night.
But last night Donnie (on a sailboat here at Banana Bay) and his group Five Sheets to the Wind played on Point Paradise. This is just on the other side of the marina and is where we docked the first time we were here. What great music! The usual Jimmy Buffet plus the oldies but goodies that would appeal to folks in the 55-75 age group.
One of the really fun thing about this group is the bass you see here to the right. Home made mostly from materials available at Home Depot!!
I especially like the touch with the dolphins cut out on the front. Only in the Keys :-)
A particular favorite with this crowd (remember the age: 55 - 75 or so) was "I Just Don't Look Good Naked Anymore". Talk about a hit with the audience! If you want to hear it (it's G rated), click here. It can take a minute or so to buffer and make sure your speakers are on and turned up!
Of course sometimes folks just don't get it - as was evidenced by the gentleman sitting at the point the other morning.
Don't you want to just pull up his bathing suit???
Steve's big score the other day was the skim board he found buried deep in the mangroves. He was out in his kayak and went in to pull out what he thought was piece of plastic trash. Sometimes it's really hard to get to stuff that's caught because the leaves and roots are so grown together.
But he was successful and imagine his surprise when he turned the board over and found this cool painting on the front side!
I don't know what we'll do with it but for now it's our newest art work :-)
Kaitlyn and J.P. scoured the property here at Banana Bay for coconuts and finally found one after lunch today.
They have only been here one day but so far it's been great! The weather has mostly cooperated in that the sun is out and it was in the high 70's. Still very windy ......
After a stop at the pool to try out new swim masks for Kaitlyn and J.P., it was off to the beach to try them for real.
Sadly the water at Sombrero Beach was pretty murky so we'll look for a better day to try the snorkeling.
It was a good beach day though with Steve and Will having as much fun playing in the sand as the kids did!
Christi took on the challenge of the skim board but I think the beach wasn't flat enough to provide a long enough expanse of shallow water for the board to do it's thing. Kudos for trying!!
Tomorrow: plans for kayaking, dinghy fishing or riding and a trip to the Dolphin Research Center. We're looking forward to a great week ....
