Happy New Year!! Wish I could say the fireworks here were like the ones at left but it was instead a very quiet ushering of the new year.
We actually made it to midnight and watched the ball drop at Times Square. And of course in following the Drouhard tradition, there was pork and sauerkraut for New Year's Eve/Day. Wouldn't want to mess with the old ways .....
The plan was to leave today and make our way 60 miles further along the keys to Marathon - taking an extra day just to anchor out at one of our favorite places.
The wind had other plans for us :-) So we leave tomorrow instead when the wind changes to the north and lays down to almost a breeze.
In the meantime, Steve has been busy adding a couple of snaps to the front hatch cover. Now we don't need to be concerned that it will blow away.
Second job was to clean the plexiglass windows with a cleaner/scratch remover. What a difference! Good job, Steve :-)
He also took care of an annoying rubber strip under the window frames on the two front windows that was working it's way out from under where it should be.
Not a big deal - just annoying. Fixed. Why did we wait so long to do that??
It seems to look like Steve is the one doing all of the work around here. Truth be told, he is :-)
However, that isn't to say I haven't been working as well - just in a different way. I finally made the commitment to take the 49GB of pictures from the last 12 years that are currently living on the hard drive of my computer - and put them on Picasaweb. No more concerns about 'losing' all or some of our pictures.
Time though. Takes lots of time. Especially as I sort out 'bad' pictures and caption the ones I can remember. Definitely an ongoing project until I finish. Sprint will also be glad when I finish as we are still on an old 'unlimited' data plan for our Mifi.
Steve finally saw the local squirrel this morning. He picked up some peanuts in the shell several days ago but wasn't able to spot the little guy until this morning. A friend for life ....
