After checking the weather, it was clear that if there was going to be a sunset cruise with Bob and Sue it was going to happen Saturday night as the weather was definitely changing. Peter and Cheryl joined us as we watched the sunset. No green blip as the clouds has moved in before the sun was down to the water. Steve made a great dinner of snapper (from the charter catch the other day) and we enjoyed an after dark cruise back to the dock (with Steve on the bow watching for crabpots with the spotlight).

Key West - here we come! Sunday was supposed to be cooler but the sun was out bright and early so everyone was suncreened up and ready to take on Key West. Bob especially was laying it on thick! Who would have known that the rain predicted to arrive at 3 pm would instead roll in about noon - shortly after our arrival (50 mile drive from Marathon). No stopping us though - just give us those ponchos to wear! By the time we were finished with the tour (about an hour and a half) we were very happy to have the thin plastic ponchos keeping us warm. Sue was shopping and said the sweatshirts were flying out of the stores as the weather had changed so drastically!

The southermost point of the continental US was on our list of things to see. Only 90 miles from here to Cuba. It's closer than going back to Miami from here! The tour was again very informative about the history of the keys (Key West in particular) and was nice way to be able to see most of the city. There would be no sunset celebration at Mallory Square because of the weather but we stopped by anyway. The Disney Magic cruiseship was in port - what a rough port due to the very strong N winds.

Monday early, Bob and Sue were off to the Orlando area for a few days and then back home at the end of the week. Steve decided he had a new use for the plastic bat he had been using to do some of his exercises: getting the dust out of the rug! It actually worked quite well :-) Meanwhile, I was finishing sewing the flybridge plastic. Some of the zippers were held in place using a glue gun and then staples when the glue let go. Cheryl had brought her portable sewing maching with her and it prompted me to check out what I could find that would sew canvas. Who knew? I found a 10 year old Kenmore Heavy Duty machine that will do all that is needed! I am very happy with it :-) Guess I'll be able to part with my Singer industrial machine that is still in Julie's basement .....
