The fishing trip last week was not terribly successful so Steve, Dave and Peter decided to try the charter route. Up early and to the dock - along with a couple swarthy pirates. The pirates caught nothing so they were no help at all but the rest of the crew managed to pick up some nice yellow tail snappers. Not huge fish but very good eating. Steve spotted this Business Hours sign that truly represents the attitude in the keys - good thing we're all so laid back :-)

Good news on the fractured foot front: a misread x-ray at the emergency room! I saw an orthopedic doctor on Monday (thanks for the ride, Peter and Cheryl) and he didn't see anything broken in the same x-ray. He pronounced me cured of a broken foot so I left my crutches with him, took more of some medication I'm already on and presto - no more swelling and painful walking. I found the experience to be quite interesting - and eye-opening. Steve in the meantime found a new use for the multi-tool: opening coconuts! This particular one was found on the way back from the laundry room - looked very green to me but apparently that has nothing to do with whether or not it is ripe. So he now has a small container of coconut juice and another small container of coconut. I think he's waiting for an opportune time to make some sort of frozen concoction with it all (making good use of the blender which traveled with us from California).

Out with the old, in with the new. That's our motto this week as Peter and Cheryl moved out of our front cabin on Tuesday (now that they have a boat that is officially theirs) and Bob and Sue moved in yesterday (Friday). These are our oldest friends and came from Loudonville to visit. Sue was the maid of honor at our wedding and we've know each other from slumber party days! The point in the morning is always a draw and reading there is a great pastime. Off to the 7-mile bridge for a long walk for Steve and Sue, a short walk for Bob and me and then time in the shade watching the fisherpeople on shore. The morning was completed with a cool drink at the Sunset Grill - we loved Sue's pineapple glass :-)

A short stop to view the exhibits at the Turtle Hospital (wonderful displays about the kinds of turtles and challenges of keeping them safe), lunch at the Keys Fisheries and back to the boat. I think there may be some swimming going on at the pool but I'm not sure. Tonight should be great for a sunset cruise with grilled fish for dinner - and key lime pie for dessert! More pictures next time....
