Monday August 13: Saying Goodbye to Parry Sound

FINALLY - the sun!!! It has been 3 days since we saw the sun and it was a welcome sight yesterday afternoon.

Parry Sound has been a great place to be stuck but it's really time to move on. Laundry was done yesterday (they have a washer/dryer here at the marina so it's so much easier than hauling clothes to a coin laundry), the water tanks are full and we have will head back toward 12-mile bay to anchor for the night. It's only a 3 hour run so we took time to go back to Orr's for breakfast and one last bike ride around town.

Steve found a new weapon yesterday to add to his arsenal of tricks to continue working his shoulder back to shape (could it really have been almost a year ago and still the shoulder isn't really back to normal???). It's pitch and catch (or whatever you call it with a football) to loosen that group of muscles that don't normally get used.

I accused him of just trying to get me to exercise with him :-) There was a nice space on shore to use - worked out very nicely.

Yet one more thing that is nice about this marina are the two gas grills provided for anyone who wants to use them. No charge to use them - just a disclaimer that you use them at your own rise! Makes me wonder what sort of incident happened to have the sign needed ........

The weather is to be clear for 3 or 4 days before clouds/showers move back in. We'll be back to the Trent by then so no issues moving when we want.

No blog for a while as we'll be anchored out for a couple of nights - hoping to see the Perseid meteor shower if we have a clear sky. The stars we saw (including a shooting star that we both happened to see) last Tuesday night were incredible. Even saw the Milky Way! It rivaled (but did not surpass and in fact really weren't all that close to) the stars we saw when we were at Lake Powell in Arizona many years ago with my brother Tom and my Mom when we stayed there on his nicely appointed pontoon boat :-)

  1. Or maybe Steve just wanted to play catch! I am happy to see all is going well with my favorite two boaters. I am much enjoying your travels. Let the good times roll. Dave
