So this is a photo from the internet and is what we would have seen if we were permitted to be closer to the humpback whales that come here to calf. The rule for Samana Bay is 50 meters away and the water wasn't nearly this clear! The white is the whale's pectoral fin, very large.

Seems I have neglected to bring the camera battery charger and can't get any of our pictures of the whales that we actually did see off of the camera, this blog will have to do for a while. Sad about the battery - perhaps I will be able to pick one up at ???
It was a perfect day and we were able to follow a mom and calf for about 30 minutes. First documented calf of the 2016 season. Anyway, will fill this blog in after our return to the boat or I find a charger - whichever comes first!
