Steve once again took advantage of being able to bring a grocery cart back from the store across the river so we are good to go for at least another month! What a great promotion by the store - and the boaters stopping here really take advantage of it. A huge tour boat went by the dock and it looked quite interesting. Obviously built to be able to cruise the inland waterways (with a height restriction of 17 feet). Maybe this will be what we do when get off of our boat! It was a quick look back in the morning as we were up and away from the dock at 5:45. The tide was going out and we wanted to be going with it as long as possible. Fortunately, just little wisps of fog on the river.
We arrived at Catskill, NY at the base of the Catskill Mnts (of course!) just about 11 am as the tide was now coming back in so we decided to stop here. We missed stopping here on the way up the Hudson in May - cute little town. It's the county seat and as such seems to be more alive than many other small towns (lots of lawyers!). The town had decorated cats everywhere (and one bear??). Kind of fun.
Sadly, the ice cream stand wasn't open even though it looked like it was. But there were a number of old time kiddie rides that I beleive still worked. Steve checked out the cute little burro :-) We also found a giant wooden cat - not sure what that was all about.
There is a very nice park down from our marina that sits on the river. It overlooks the Hudson. Lovely day - hard to believe I started out with jeans, long sleeved shirt, jacket and sweatshirt - and even had the flybridge plastic in! The mast will go back up tonight when the sun gets a bit lower. It will be nice not to have it laying on the flybridge floor :-)
