Tuesday April 2: Ready to Go Tomorrow!

The last of the teak work began earlier this week with Steve and Sharon attaching the flybridge rails with a vengeance. Sharon received an award for the removal of the longest one piece strip of the old Cetol!!

That just gives a good idea of how long it's been on the wood on the flybridge - and how many layers there must have been to have it come off in such a long strip!

Once the scraper and heat gun has been used, the sander then removes the remainder of the  old finish.

The real trick is to remove the old finish while removing as little of the teak itself.

The floors of the walkaround deck had been sanded so much prior to our ownership that the deck was actually below the level of the scuppers (which should be at a level so the water can drain off the deck!!).

With two working the job goes so much faster. How fortunate to have a friend that loves (literally) to refinish teak!!

Thanks much to Sharon!!

One job that has been put off since November when we painted the flybridge sides was replacing the Yesterday's Dream on the two sides of the boat.

It's not that we didn't have the printed vinyl name all ready to put on, it just seemed so never have a priority! Today was finally the day :-)

It's not hard to do - just takes a bit of patience in making sure everything is lined up.

With both of us working on it (plus questioning everyone who walked by if it looked straight or not :-)), the job was deemed a success!

Lobsters, anyone?

This is a picture of the lobsters congregating under one of the docks down from us.

Of course they are out of season as of yesterday. I think somehow they know this .....

So tomorrow we are leaving at 7 am to  travel 70 miles north inside on the Gulfside - headed toward Miami. The plan right now if the weather holds is to be in Miami on Friday and then leave for the Bahamas Saturday VERY early so we can arrive at the West End of the Bahamas. It should take us about 10 hours or so - depending.

We were thinking of leaving out of Port Everglades - until we saw that there were 6 cruise ships set to arrive and be docked by 7 am!! No thank you - don't want to be a part of that mess :-)

Will report back if we actually end up being able to leave ....
