May 3: Made it to Guppy!

Since arriving Thursday to Syracuse NY, the weather has been cool but decent. Sunny counts for a LOT! And finally after putting Guppy away in September 2015, our northern boat is back out of storage and into the water.

Spending a couple of nights at the quaint (translated to old, inexpensive but clean :-) ) BelAir Motel in Brewerton, lets us thoroughly clean the inside of the boat without trying to stay on the boat at the same time.

And even though the boat was in great shape for having  been in storage for the past almost 2 years, it still needed swept and cleaned up.

Steve started in the v-berth sweeping ceiling, sides and cushions.

I did the main cabin and Steve finished up by crawling under and completely sweeping the small aft cabin. I think he definitely got the worst of the jobs!

The best thing about our welcome back to Guppy and the Erie Canal? Seeing friends on Rahn de Vous, Craig and Karen!! We first met them last year on the Trent, visited their home in San Juan Capistrano in CA and here we are - together again!

It was a long day on Thursday traveling from Columbus and what a treat to be able to just drop everything and enjoy being with friends over a great dinner. Plus Manhattan mixings :-)

We continue to get the boat in order with a bit of sightseeing squeezed in.

There may be a break in the weather on Thursday so perhaps it will be the day to cross Lake Ontario as we head to Kingston and the Rideau Canal.
