Thursday April 4: No Name Key to Hollywood!

We were up early yesterday morning because we wanted to take a ride around the park here at No Name Harbor.

First it was a stop at the sign which had information about the 'Homes that Hover.' They are built on stilts on the edge of Biscayne Bay - on the ocean side.

We've always seen them from a distance but could never figure out what they were. This was the first time we had traveled the length of Biscayne Bay on the ocean side.

For more information on Stiltsville: click here!

Very interesting though -- not that I would want to live there :-)

Sadly the lighthouse was closed - the view from there is crazy good to both Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean.

It was time to move on! By 11:00 we were headed for Miami - a short 10 miles away.

It was a nice day going through Miami. Weekdays are the only time to go through as weekends are just crazy with boats on the waterway.

The condos, huge homes and yachts line the waterways.

The bridges went well as we barely squeaked past one that opened every TWO HOURS because it was being repaired! What luck ....

We made it to Joe's Crab Shack in Hollywood about 3 pm. Nice travel day and again nice weather. We love it here with the boardwalk and pier nearby.

Of course we were up and out to breakfast this morning. No fried potatoes though - gotta keep working on that cholesterol!

After breakfast was a nice 6 mile ride down to the pier and back. It's getting warm up here in southern Florida - and humid. Just what we want as we attempt to follow the warm weather north :-)

Well, tonight is Karaoke night at Joe's and Peter and Steve are set to better their performance last spring when we stopped by here for a couple of days.

Cheryl and I have very high expectations :-)
