Monday May 21: Once Again - Back to Jacksonville

The ten day trip to Alaska is already a memory. Why is it that when we return to the boat, it's like we never left? Regardless, the trip was all we expected and more - plus the weather (other than the 2 1/2 days of rain and wind in Juneau) was very good for May. A bit of rain each day but also lots of time of sunshine. This in an area that receives up to 200 inches of rain a year! The overnight flight from Seattle gave us a great sunrise as we approached Jacksonville early Sunday morning. In the meantime, we had the boat pulled as the bottom needed repainted. The anti-fouling paint lasts about a year so it was time. As you can see, sanding brought out all of the different colors of paint used in the past! By using different colors each time, it's very easy to see any spots where the paint is wearing. Wow - what a difference it makes!
Part of the day was spent trying to catch back up to Eastern time but the rest was back to work. With the boat out of the water, we were able to loosen up one of the thru hull fittings that was getting hard to turn. Also changed the antifreeze which needed done because of the overheated engine a while back. Both jobs were completed in about 3 hours.
Boat goes back into the water first thing Wednesday - not sure when we are headed back north, but Thursday looks good for currents and tides!
